Responsibilities:- Key Result Areas (KRA) for a Customs and Import Manager** 1. Supplier Management: - Identify and establish relationships with international suppliers of organic ingredients. - Maintain regular communication with suppliers to ensure quality and supply consistency. - Evaluate and negotiate terms with suppliers to secure favorable agreements. 2. Procurement Process - Manage the end-to-end procurement process for organic ingredients. - Ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing. - Monitor order status and manage delivery schedules. 3. Quality Assurance: - Ensure all purchased ingredients meet organic certification standards. - Coordinate with quality assurance teams to conduct inspections and audits. - Address any quality issues or discrepancies with suppliers. 4. Market Research: - Conduct market research to stay informed about trends in organic ingredients. - Identify new sourcing opportunities and emerging markets. - Provide insights on market conditions and pricing trends. 5. inventory Management: - Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of organic ingredients. - Coordinate with the inventory team to manage stock levels. - Implement strategies to minimize inventory costs and avoid stockouts. 6. Compliance: - Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and international trade regulations. - Maintain accurate records of transactions and certifications. - Stay updated on changes in organic certification requirements and international trade laws. 7. Cost Management: - Manage and control the cost of purchased organic ingredients. - Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. - Prepare and manage budgets for procurement activities. 8. Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain thorough documentation of all procurement activities. - Generate regular reports on purchasing performance and cost analysis. - Provide updates and insights to senior management. 9. Coordination with Internal Teams: - Work closely with production, logistics, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless operations. - Facilitate effective communication and coordination between departments. - Address and resolve any issues related to procurement and supply chain. 10. Sustainability Initiatives: - Support the company’s sustainability goals by sourcing organic and eco-friendly ingredients. - Promote ethical sourcing practices and supplier partnerships. - Participate in initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of procurement activities
- Minimum Bachelor level (ideally Organic International Trade);
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in a trade role in food & Grains business;
- Experience in an import/export environment and successful customer service experience;
- Affinity with food ingredients and the organic industry;
- Proven excellent communication skills – both verbal and written;
- Effective contract negotiation skills;
- Awareness of relevant prevailing quality and food safety regulations;
- Ability to solve challenging problems;
- Being able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work with minimal direction;
- Stress resistant;
- Proficiency of the English language (in writing and verbally) is a must; command of the Dutch, German language are a plus;
- An "international" mind-set, result driven, attention to detail and a team player;
- Independent risk/reward assessment;
- Willingness to travel, also internationally (about 20% of your time).

Customs Compliance - Ensure adherence to all customs regulations and laws from the customs broker for organic and Conventional food shipments. - Keep up-to-date with changes in customs laws and regulations. - Prepare and submit accurate customs documentation and declarations and liase and work with Customs agent of the company 2. Import Operations Management: - Oversee the entire import process from order placement to delivery. - Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers. transporters, 3p Warehouse providers. - Ensure timely and cost-effective importation of goods with no Demmurages and Detentions 3. Documentation and Record Keeping: - Maintain accurate records of all import transactions. - Ensure all import documentation is complete and compliant. - Implement and manage electronic documentation systems including Agrims and other Food imports related documents 4. Vendor and Supplier Management: - Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers. - Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers. - Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues. 5. Cost Management: - Monitor and control import-related costs, reduce any Demurage and Detention - Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. - Prepare and manage budgets for import activities. 6. Risk Management: - Identify and mitigate risks associated with imports. - Develop contingency plans for potential disruptions. - Ensure compliance with import controls and sanctions. 7. Process Improvement: - Continuously review and improve import processes and procedures. - Implement best practices in customs and import management. - Leverage technology to streamline import operations. 8. Regulatory Liaison: - Serve as the main point of contact with customs authorities. - Address any issues or disputes with customs officials. - Ensure timely resolution of any compliance or regulatory matters. 9. Training and Development - Train staff on customs regulations and import procedures. - Ensure team members are knowledgeable about compliance requirements. - Provide ongoing development opportunities for the import team. 10. Reporting and Analysis - Generate regular reports on import activities and performance. - Analyze import data to identify trends and insights. - Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
